30th November 2024 - TIME TO EXCEL

Good morning everyone,

Looking back we had two really good performances from three last Saturday (who said two out of three ain't bad huh?) with One Big Bang (2nd of 15) giving it a really good go (just falling short) and Lauren's Dream (3rd of 6) going down by three parts of a length but finishing the strongest. I wouldn't be surprised if she returns to 6 furlongs next time.

Do you know what though? I'm sick of being the eternal nearly man. So let's see if we can go one further today (Saturday).

I'm only looking at one solitary selection today and its EXCELERO in the 2:25 at Newbury, generally priced 10/1 at the moment, 4 places freely available.

The young horse has only had four races in his career and as a consequence sneaks into his first handicap carrying a weight of just 10 stone 5.

I don't think he's done much wrong so far - a 14 length jamboree at Market Rasen in March being the highlight of the four races where he's been scrubbing up well.

Admittedly, he hasn't faced competition such as this previously but that doesn't mean he's not up to the task and the market may have underestimated him.

I think he's dangerous and unexposed - he could be a shark nicely stationed and lurking ominously in a duck pond.
